The PaperClip is the new online newspaper at Portsmouth High School. This is the first online-news source ever published by the school. All of the articles are written and edited by students in the PHS Journalism class. Ms. Proulx, the teacher of the class, said “I think that it is important to give high school students a place to voice their opinions, and also for the community to see what is happening at the high school. There is no real outlet for them to see that currently.”

There are 19 students in the class ,ranging from grades 9-12. A voice from each grade is represented because this course is an English elective that can be taken at any level. Emma Cheney, an 11th grade student in the class, said

I think that it is nice that PHS now has a way for everyone to hear what is going on in the school or how the students feel about the community. I like that we can ask students to voice their opinion.

— Emma Cheney

Students in the course are currently responsible for writing one article a week to publish online.

The website logo was picked by the students in the class, as well as the categories on the website. News on the website ranges from hard news, to sports, to an entertainment and food section. Every part of the school, as well as news around the community, can be represented in the online newspaper. The online newspaper has plans to continue to enhance and build upon the website in the future .
