Should Students be Allowed to Grade their Teachers?

Schools are always trying to provide the best possible teachers for their students. A teacher’s performance in the classroom is usually judged by the grade a student receives, but every student learns differently. Should students be able to grade their teachers? After all, the students are the ones who spend the most time around their teachers.

As a senior at Portsmouth High School, I have had my fair share of different teachers and different grades. Personally, I am  a visual learner, so anytime a teacher shows examples, I understand very quickly. On the flip side, I have also had my fair share of teachers whose  teaching styles are less than optimal for student growth.

After interviewing Brandon Siegell, a PHS senior, he stated,“I excel in some classes, and do worse in others, and to be honest it’s primarily the teacher’s style of teaching.” The responsibility lies on the student  to get good grades; however, it can be difficult when your learning style combats the teacher’s teaching style.

In future years should students grading their teachers be implemented into the school system?
