Pi Day Blizzard Hits New England Hard

The huge blizzard that hit New England on Tuesday, March 14th has had many impacts. Almost all schools were canceled, many stores were closed, a lot of people lost power,  and many people who were supposed to work that day had the day off because travel conditions were not looking good.

The travel conditions were very bad and many roads were completely covered in snow. According to AccuWeather, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency reports nearly 60,000 customers without power in the state as of 1:50 p.m. EDT Tuesday. Many New Englanders are hoping that this is the last storm we will have this year and Spring will come around.

One student at Portsmouth High lost power at 3:00pm on Tuesday 3/14, and still didn’t have it at the publication of this article (Wednesday, March 15th). She was asked how she felt about that and said, “it was very annoying especially because I didn’t have it all night and couldn’t charge anything and didn’t have much light all night. A lot of my friends lost power as well and they weren’t happy about it because some of them have big families and it was hard to go to bed because their houses were so cold.”
