Both Los Angeles and Paris want to host the 2024 Olympics. There are two spots open, one being the 2024 Olympics and the other being the 2028 Olympics.

Both cites want the 2024 Olympics. Paris co-chairman Tony Estanguet told the Chicago tribune, “It’s not possible. Either the IOC family wants to choose Paris for ’24 or we will not come back for ’28.” LA chairman Casey Wasserman said in an article he wrote that it is “An opportunity, not an ultimatum.” Wasserman ended the article with “LA’s vision for 2024 is relevant now, and cannot wait until 2028.”

Most people think the International Olympic Committee will go for Los Angeles because they are the cheapest option. Los Angeles’s plan is to use spaces that have already been built. The IOC have been criticized for overspending on building new areas.

Both cities will have to give a presentation in front of the IOC which will be the first part of a three-part deciding plan. The decision will be made in September, and the city that isn’t chosen for the 2024 Olympics will have the option to host the 2028 Olympics.
