Prescription Drugs and More Negative Side Effects

Cass Malila, PaperClip Writer

The side effects of prescription drugs have gone up in the past year. According to the Union Leader, “there have been more than one million reports of drug side effects filed with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2015.”
The drugs affecting people are drugs to treat diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, diabetes and types of cancer. The real issue is that though not many people use these drugs, the uses of them are increasing all over America. It is hard to diagnose some of these diseases so not many complaints have been reported yet.
There is a lot of information missing about which drugs cause issues (could be other drugs as well as the ones listed). According to the Union Leader, if the drugs are used more frequently, it will become a much bigger issue. On the drugs they attach warnings about it, which not many people take the time to read. There is an explosion of reports in the past 14 years about people’s side effects with these drugs.
