Beauty and the Beast: Take Two

Disney’s new version of the 1991 animated classic has been highly anticipated by people of all ages. The good news is Beauty and the Beast is currently playing at your local cinema, starting on March 16th. Even better, the director is making sure to keep the original theme.

For example, the 2017 film begins with its original opening scene of the villagers judging Belle for her love for books. Belle will also be singing a song at the start of both versions.

However, Beauty and the Beast is making some minor changes to the main story. For example, Belle’s dad is now an artist, instead of an inventor.

With the original Beauty and the Beast being the only film to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture, producer David Hoberman had a lot to live up to. He said that, “the most difficult part was both honoring the original animated film and also giving it its own identity.” However, David successfully did that.

Beauty and the Beast has already set a record for a March movie-opening, collecting $170 million. Both versions of Beauty and Beast have pleased  audiences who are looking for a romantic journey, with a beauty and a beast.
