NASCAR races moving from NH to Las Vegas

For many years, New Hampshire has hosted two of the Monster Energy Cup Series races. One race happened in summer and another followed in the fall every year. Las Vegas motor officials made the announcement Wednesday that the fall race will move to Las Vegas. Vegas will get $2.5 million a year for seven years to promote the two races they have.
Because Las Vegas has such a popular speedway, officials have been looking for another race to hold there for a while. The current series is already 36-races and two exhibition events, so they didn’t want to add more. Recently, New Hampshire’s ticket sales have gone down. Neither of its two races last year had a title sponsor.
A racer named Ricky Craven was specifically sad to see one of the races go to Las Vegas. He is a NASCAR driver and was born in New England: “On a personal level, it’s very disappointing. It was my home course and I always associated the track with great memories.”
A lot of fans will miss the races. The races were held in Loudon, New Hampshire. The NH Speedway was opened in 1990 and has been running for over 20m years. In a 2011 study by Southern New Hampshire University, the races generated $170 million dollars and 2,500 jobs.
