Oscar Fashion, Keeping it Classy

The Oscars this year had lots of good looks. Their theme this year was “Old Hollywood glamor with a modern twist.” Many had beautiful designer outfits designed just for the day. Although there were some outfits I felt could have looked better, they had lots of beautiful styles. As someone who loves fashion and watches the Oscars every year I can say I have found some of the best attire at this year’s Oscars.

The first look that I love is Rihanna’s. I mean, she always kills it no matter what she does. She’s dressed in Alaia. You can see she is wearing a brown leather skirt and small leather top. With a tight brown mesh long sleeve underneath, and she is working it, even while pregnant. For jewelry, she looks to have silver rings with colored jewels inside, brown crystal earrings with green diamond charm, and a pearl which pull the whole ensemble together. Her red lipstick is perfect for this look and helps give it more of an old fashion theme but keeps it modern with the other makeup. The outfit almost has a classically classy aesthetic to it but the cropped leather shirt and mesh underneath adds a modern twist.

This was another look I loved. Ana de Armas is in Louis Vuitton. Although this was a simpler look, it was beautiful and elegant. The dress is covered in sparkles and now has a long ruffley train which gives it an old dainty appearance but the tight top makes it a little contemporary. I think her makeup and hair are pretty basic. The makeup looks good with the dress but Louis Vuitton definitely could have done something different with her hair; like a tight bun just to make it a little classier. The diamond bracelets go really well with this look and really add to the sparkle. The dress is sewn together in a way that shaped it almost like a corset, which is not too obvious but it adds to the silhouette in person.

This is Lenny Kravitz in Saint Lauren. I love this look. The black silk and brown glossy leather shoes give this a clean contemporary look but it also has a hint of more classical fashion. I love the open chest with the big cross and chains, and the way the silk wraps around making it flowy, but cinched at the stomach so it doesn’t look like a dress. I also like how he wore sunglasses and some simple silver rings to pull it all together. I appreciate how this isn’t the normal black and white tuxedo that most guys wear. It’s different and looks more high fashion.

This is another one of my favorite male looks. In this photo, Alton Mason is wearing a Tom Ford suit and Christian Louboutins. I love the leopard print open suit. I like how they made the jacket darker with a blurred look and put a brighter more defined leopard print shirt underneath. It gives good contrast. I also love the sunglasses. They give this look more of a 70’s fancy style. The big diamond earrings go really well with the brown suit and glasses. The black velvet Louboutins make it look classy and clean.

Vannessa Hudgens is killing it in Chanel. This look is simple yet so classy. It has a white neck line with a black dress and ends in a white fabric making the old fashion look really stand out, especially since she added the one simple diamond necklace and big silver diamond flower earrings. There’s also two silver flowers with pearls sewn onto the hips of this dress giving it a really pretty unique feel and also aiding the whole flower theme. She had some simple rings with long black almond nails to match the dress. This, with the slicked back bun and bow, really extenuates the classiness to this look.

Zoe Saldana in Fendi Haute Couture

I love the way this looks, might be one of my favorites.. It contrasts well with her white dress. Zoe Saldana’s dress is absolutely beautiful. I love all the lace patterns in it and the way it has a corset under the mesh. This dress seems to have multiple materials. This dress is beautiful and has a cute dainty look to it. I really like the long silver earrings, big silver necklace, and silver rings. I feel like gold or copper could have gone better with this since it’s more of an off white/cream dress. The shoes are adorable. They are white heels and have little criss-cross straps on them. I also like how she added the white clutch. I think it gives a more sophisticated theme to it.
