No.1 ranked PHS Boys Basketball team will be playing Friday evening at 7:00p.m. On their home court in the division one quarterfinals hoping to advance to the semifinals for a chance at their second ring.

PHS boys will be taking on the Cardinals of Bishop Guertin School, a team that is 10-11 on the season just short of .500 win percentage.  Previously the Clippers were able to handle the Cardinals with a score of 59-50.

The Portsmouth Clippers are coming off their 40th straight win (a streak started last year) proving they are a championship-contending team.

They have been a powerhouse the whole season, usually beating teams by large margins. PHS Junior guard Cody Graham has also reached his 1000th point and had this to say; “I mentally get ready and focus on the game hours before it starts. Gotta get a good night’s sleep and not get distracted.”

When Graham was asked what challenges he faces, he stated “I face challenges like my knee being hurt. As a team we face challenges like kids being sick or hurt also. Everyone tries to stay as healthy as possible.”

Graham’s plan for the upcoming games include,”working hard for the last 2 weeks of practice and giving it his all to bring another championship back to Portsmouth.”
It’s no surprise to see Portsmouth in the playoffs as they have a record of being a championship contender.   There hasn’t been much of a challenge for this team; it will be interesting to see how they play as they push for the championship.
