Who has the Worst Tattoo in all of Basketball?

Overtime, basketball fans have witnessed some horrible inky abominations etched into the pelts of the worlds finest ballers. There is no shortage of examples of NBA players with bad tattoos as the league is filled with players who attempt to express themselves through their ink. And yet, there are many beautiful athlete tattoos with special meaning behind them and those should be applauded.

Out of all of the tattoos in the NBA, none are as identifiable as Richard Jefferson’s poorly designed “RJ” tattoo on his left shoulder. The 37 year old Denver Nuggets bench player says he has no regrets when discussing his tattoo.

According to PHS sophomore Ryan Groleau, “Richard Jefferson’s tattoo is the ugliest thing he has ever seen.”

Although the tattoo is not great, the story behind it is. Appearing on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” podcast, Jefferson discussed how his tattoo came to be.

“This is what happened: I go to the University of Arizona on my visit. Mike Bibby is my host. I’m going there and Mike Bibby’s like, ‘Oh, I’m going to go get a tattoo’, ‘If you come with me, I’ll get you one.’

“Being a 17-year-old kid, I’m like, ‘Sure, why not?’ So I go there, no thought, no nothing and I was like, ‘I have no idea what I should get’ and [Bibby] was like, ‘Just get your initials.’ Mind you, nobody up until that point had ever called me ‘RJ.’ My name has always been Richard. I get this tattoo when I’m 17-years-old on my visit, I commit on my visit. The rest is history.”
