Schools are getting SALT-y

In recent years, more and more high schools have incorporated a SALT group in their school for the student body. S.A.L.T. stands for “Student Athletic Leadership Team.” These groups focus on what the participants can do to help teams achieve goals, solve problems the sports teams have, and come up with ways to spread school spirit.

This is the second year Portsmouth High School is trying to widen the involvement of student athletes in the SALT group.

This group is starting two new projects. The first project is showing pictures of student athletes in both their sport environment and school environment, followed by a quote of their choice. The second project being worked on is a creed for the athletic department, that will be hung up to remind all athletes that all sports teams are part of one department and that the choices one person makes can affect everyone involved in the athletic department.

They are also striving to spread awareness of how important making good choices is to a team.
