Everyone seems to be more excited than usual about the reopening of Lago’s ice cream. The seasonal ice cream shack opened its doors on Friday,March 24th, and people can’t stop talking about it. Some students at Portsmouth currently work there, and they are even excited to be back to work.

The community keeps talking about Lago’s and has labeled it as being one of their favorite destinations to visit. With the snow starting to melt and the weather slowly starting to get warmer, more and more people are flying to the popular ice cream spot.

Current Portsmouth High senior, Jake Teti, said, “In the past few years I’ve gone there too many times to count, and I’m very excited to spend my money there.” Jake added, “I always like to change it up but my favorite flavors are mint chocolate chip and the classic vanilla chocolate twist. The prices are very good for the quality and quantity of the ice cream that you get. It’s a really good place to go with your friends. It’s personally my favorite place to get ice cream.”

Portsmouth high senior, Katie Crowell, started working there last March. After opening day she said, “It was a lot busier than I expected! Especially because it was super cold with hail and gusty winds. But luckily the dedicated fans came out anyways to support their local ice cream shop!” She added, “After this extremely long winter it was a little rough getting back into the hang of things. However, I do really enjoy seeing local customers and friends when they come.”

“Customers are very excited and almost giddy that we are open,” Crowell said. “I would say that more people have been coming this season so far because most want it to feel like spring or summer and getting ice cream gives them the reassurance that warm weather is hopefully right around the corner.”

Lagos Ice Cream is open 12-8 PM every day, and then 12-10 PM when summer starts up. It is located on Lafayette road in Rye. The menu includes all your favorite flavors in a cone,  dish, frappe and  more. It seems like not even the cold weather will stop customers from heading back to Lagos.
