“Hustle” is a movie that came out on June 8, 2022 on Netflix, and can still be watched on Netflix today. The main characters in this movie are Adam Sandler along with Juancho Hernangomez they play the roles of Stanley Sugarman and Bo Cruz.

Adam Sandler is a famous funny actor who got to play a role in this movie being Juancho Hernangome’s character’s coach. 

In real life Juancho Hernangomez is an NBA player, and shows off his skills in this movie from being found in street ball to going pro. I like how Adam Sandler gets to show his love for basketball in a movie, because he really enjoys basketball. 

I enjoy seeing Adam Sandler as a coach because as he is a good coach in the movie he also brings in very funny moments as well. With a real NBA player playing a leading role, it makes me more engaged and makes the movie enjoyable to watch.  

I admire the plot because it is very realistic and personally I am a bigger fan of more realistic films. The plot is a scout who has been out of luck recently goes to a park to discover a star player within his near future. I love how this movie is filmed and how they involve the community with having many scenes filmed outside at city basketball courts. The environment is very energetic and competitive, which is exactly what I would want to see at the basketball park community. “Hustle” has a 4.8 star review out of 5 with over 2,000 reviews, personally I would agree with this rating.

“Hustle” involves a lot of personal risks which is something I think people have to do in life to succeed and follow their goals. Every cast member shows in this movie how important this movie is to the world of the NBA. In this movie the characters believe and trust themselves throughout the whole way and do not give up on their goals. I believe you have to trust yourself and trust the process all along.      

On March 19, Adam Sandler won the 2023 Mark Twain Prize for American humor and was honored at Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Presenters of the award talked about Sandler’s longevity as he’s been in big time movies since the 90s. They also spoke about how he would cast all of his friends in his movies, too. If I was ever a famous actor I would try to do the same thing and get my friends involved.

I think this reward is highly deserved for Sandler and is just another addition to all of his other accolades. Sandler has a very successful movie career that has over 30 films and has grossed over $3 billion worldwide. Sandler was raised in Manchester, NH so he is  known around the whole New England area for what he’s done for the film and comedy industry.

There are also many other NBA players that are in “Hustle”. Some notable names are Anthony Edwards, Trae Young, Boban Marjanović, Tobias Harris, Seth Curry, Jordan Clarkson, Tyrese Maxey, Khris Middleton. These are big time NBA players that I watch on TV almost everyday. As a basketball player I think it is amazing to see all of these star players playing a role in a movie.

Additionally, one of the producers is Lebron James. The director is Jeremiah Zagar and this was the first popular movie he directed, which is impressive because not many directors will be able to say they had a cast of so many pro athletes in one movie.

As a basketball fan there are so many more familiar faces in this movie which is just so uncommon to ever see, so I think it makes this movie unique and stand out. There is hard work shown in this movie along with dedication and comedy. For people who follow sports I would highly recommend this movie as it has 93% Rotten Tomatoes.
