Portsmouth High School has introduced a new athletics team this spring: Boys Volleyball.

According to athletic director Tom Kozikowski, they have been trying to have a season for years but could not get the numbers.

This year the team consists of 15 players being led by seniors Taylor Hodgdon, Nate Fletcher, Alex Peshkov, Michael Novotny, and Chase Poulin.

In their first year, the boys are trying to get their foot in the door of the competitive volleyball scene.

“We want to lay the groundwork for future volleyball players to come to play at Portsmouth High School,” Poulin stated in a recent interview.

The team is coached by Wayne Siejkowski and will start at the Junior Varsity level and hope to make a statement in their first game versus the Exeter Blue Hawks.

The Clippers will compete against ten other teams in their inaugural season.
