PHS Parking Passes
The school parking passes at Portsmouth High School are available to seniors and juniors for $150.00. This price is not justified for what you are receiving in return. Portsmouth High School receives an annual sum of $51,750.00-for 345 parking passes sold- stating that this money goes into bus transportation.
At Portsmouth High School there are twenty buses (16 for Portsmouth, and four for other locations) that transport students; some buses carry students from middle and elementary school, saving gas and time.
In my opinion, I believe a full school year of parking is not worth $150. After interviewing a few people, I found out that many seniors and juniors agree with me.
When asked about the parking issue, senior Camden Dorr responded with, “For what you’re getting in return, the price isn’t worth it.” In reality, all you are getting in return is a plowed parking spot that’s not guaranteed to be available.
Portsmouth High School oversold parking spots yet again this year. There are 258 available parking spaces, but the school previously stated 345 parking passes were sold.
