Portsmouth High School hosts an infinite amount of extracurricular activities: sports, band, theater, clubs, and more. Having so many different options for students is part of what makes PHS such a great school.
One of the popular programs at PHS is the performing arts program and choir. The choir program is run and conducted by Nathan Wotton, who has been at PHS for three years. He previously worked at the Laconia High School for four years.
Wotton grew up around the arts, from being a member of both band and chorus at a young age.
“Choir is a great way to meet different people, from top scholars to athletes and your run-of-the-mill student, it’s a great way to meet people you probably wouldn’t interact with in other classes,” Wotton said.
The choir has an upcoming event on February 12 called, “New Hampshire Voices Project”, where many schools in New Hampshire meet, rehearse, and perform different musical pieces.
Geno Vinciguerra and Jacob Ringutee are both seniors here at PHS who have been members of the choir since middle school.
“Choir has been a joyous experience,” said Vinciguerra. Sadly, he is not participating in the New Hampshire Voices Project, but loves choir.
“I’m looking forward to the experience,” Ringutee said when asked about the New Hampshire Voices Project. Ringette will be participating in the project and is excited to perform.
If you would like to join the choir, get in touch with your guidance counselor or Mr. Wotton.
