Portsmouth High School’s (PHS) Varsity Field Hockey team suffered a 1-0 loss against Plymouth High School last Tuesday.
For most of the first half, the score was 0-0, until Plymouth’s number 22, Olivia Eastman, scored against PHS. After that, the ball was moving across both sides of the field but didn’t make it into a goal for either side. The PHS team had a hard, strong offense led by Mia Edwards and Frankie Marchesano.
“Our record doesn’t show who we are as a team,” senior defender Calista Hopley said after the game.
PHS’s record is 3 wins, 7 losses, and 1 tie since Tuesday.
The season is coming to an end soon and if the team wants to make it to the state championship then they need to “communicate and listen to each other more,” said Captain Josie Philbrick after the game.
“I 100% believe we can make it to states this year,” senior Victoria Watson said.
“We didn’t make it to states last year but I believe we can make it this year with hard work and better communication,” Philbrick said.
The team’s last home game is Thursday, October 17th, come out and support the seniors and the rest of the team for senior night!
