As a freshman in Portsmouth High School(PHS), I have noticed a substantial increase in the amount of homework from eighth grade.

In eighth grade, I had about fifteen minutes, on average of homework each night, and now I have about an hour (keep in mind that I take all level four classes).

This transition has been different for everyone.

For Bella Fevrier, a freshman at PHS, she thinks that her middle school last year, Portsmouth Middle School, hasn’t prepared her fully for high school however now that she has figured it out, she likes it better than middle school. “The homework load isn’t very different, it just takes you longer to do,” she said. Fevrier thinks that the middle school didn’t prepare her because there are some things that you have to experience in order to learn them.
