“Adopt a team” trend rising in high schools

Schools in the surrounding area have started a new way of showing their school spirit for their sports teams.

“Adopting” a team is when one sports team supports another team at all of their home games. This would create a sense of unity and respect for each other and the teams at the school. As an example, if the football team was to adopt the girls varsity volleyball team, it would provide motivation for both teams to strive to do their best in the game.

For this to work, the adopt a team must be mandatory  for all home games of the team supporting them for the season. The only way a team would not be there would be if they had a practice or game during that time.

School spirit at Portsmouth High School has greatly decreased over the years. This would be a great way to unite our students and support each other in our athletic events.

The love and support from our classmates is a motivator and can help our student athletes want to better themselves.
